Our August Picnic:
To top of page
Soggy. That's the one word that sums up the day we spent at Triglav
for our August Picnic. The ground was just saturated. We couldn't park cars in
the field for fear we'd lose them. The band had to set up inside and tents were
set up to cover people moving from the ticket counter to the kitchen. The rain
came down off and on all day, and it was on the cool side but what I saw, I
think, was something special. No one complained, the hall and bar was jumping
with many new faces, and everyone had a great time. No one was worried about the
almighty dollar. We all knew that this picnic was not going to bring in the
profits we all thought was going to come our way, but it didn't matter. We were
there for other reasons. To enjoy our park, our new friends, our old friends,
and just forget about life for a day. It was great to see all the new faces and
other members who haven't been to Triglav in awhile. Thanks to all who braved
the weather to be there.
Although it was a
soggy, cool day, the Hank Thunander band kept us all high and dry. What a
talented musician we were blessed with at our August picnic. Playing tunes from
other artists and pieces written by Hank himself, we were all treated to the
sounds of a true professional. I am hoping to have Hank back for our
August picnic next year. He really didn't get to see Triglav at its best. I want
him back and he wants to come back. Cross your fingers..................it may
work out. Thanks Hank for entertaining all of us.

Our Next
Meeting:
To top of page
Our next meeting will be September 9th at Triglav Park. The meeting will start at
2:00.
Please come with your ideas and opinions. Something new I'd like to have a
vote on. This may entice you to the
meeting!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hank Thunander charges more than our local bands. He lives
in St. Paul, Minnesota. Therefore, I am thinking of having a 50/50 raffle at each meeting and
possibly the picnics in order to raise money to bring him back. It works this way. People
wanting to participate will buy a raffle ticket for $1.00. We pull one lucky
ticket at the end of the meeting or picnic. For instance, at a meeting, if there is $40.00 in the pot, the winner gets
$20.00 and the other $20.00 will go into a fund to have Hank Thunander back at
our August Picnic next year. At a picnic, maybe we'd have $150.00 in the pot.
$75.00 would go to the winner and $75.00 would go to the "Bring Hank Back Fund". Come to our meeting
and let me know your thoughts.

Our
Next Picnic:
To
top of page
Our next picnic, and final picnic of the year, will be held Sunday,
September 16th. The Grant Kozera Band
http://www.brewhauspolkakings.com
will be entertaining us for this event. Once again, we need help the day before
and the day of the picnic. Please come out and support your park! Remember,
starting time on Saturday is around 9:30 - 10:00 for preparing the chickens.
Then potatoes need to be cooked and peeled, cabbage needs to be shredded,
peppers, onions and chives need to be chopped, dishes need to be washed and put
away, the dom needs cleaning (and because this is the Vinska, the dom needs
decorating) and of course, the grass needs to be cut and trimmed. So, we really
could use some more people at this picnic to help get the job done. .
Raffle prizes: To top of page
Our always smiling raffle organizer, Kathy Mejac, is asking for
donations to our raffle for this picnic. If anyone has any gifts they'd like to
donate, please contact Kathy at 414-529-3881.
Our Website:
To top of page
You may have noticed a new link on our
website. If not, the link is labeled "White Paper". White Paper was
written by Mr. Ludvik Kolman, a proud member of Triglav Park, in 1970. His
writings go into great detail regarding WWII and the Slovenian Domobranci. It is
the Domobranci that his writings are dedicated to. This "paper" is 18 pages
long, but well worth the read. If you did not know Mr. Kolman, you will be able
to get a glimpse of this man's passion for his country and his fellow man. Mr. Kolman died in 1992 but lives on today in our memories and through his writings.
