Vinska Trgatev:    To top of page
Our Vinska Trgatev picnic was a sensational event.  It was a perfect fall day and lots of people attended. The bar was full of people watching the Packer game, which of course we won, so everyone was in good spirits.  The Grant Kozera band, as usual, entertained us with their professional music abilities, so lots of people were dancing and enjoying the band.  Grant will be back next year which is great news for all of us.  The dom was decorated for this special day with branches and grapes and if you were caught holding or eating these grapes, the police were there and the jail was your next home for awhile.  From A to Z, it was a great day and I thank all who made this day a huge success.  I received a lot of compliments again which I always say, “It’s a group effort.”  Everyone did a great job and everyone deserves a pat on the back.

Special mention goes to Triglav members Frank and Janez Yakos for traveling quite a distance to attend our last picnic of the year.  Frank from California and Janez  from Michigan. It is always great to see you and we appreciate your time and effort in supporting Triglav park.  Also, friend of Triglav, Niki Sell, helped with the bartending duties.  Niki  is always willing to help out with a “whatever you want me to do” attitude and we at Triglav appreciate her energy and effort.  Also, friend of Triglav, Franc Gamzer,  showed up to wash all the dom windows, inside and out and took care of some other things that needed to be done. We are so lucky to have people like Niki and Franc, non members, supporting us the way they do.

Balina Tournament 2007
:    To top of page
A very successful USPEH Organization sponsored balina tournament concluded September 17th with SNPJ taking home the honors of being named Wisconsin's number one balina team. They did it with a hard fought victory over the stubborn Fun-O-Leer group.

The victorious SNPJ squad was represented by Ed Schircely, Ralph Tischer, Tom Kunovar, and Ed Vidmar. The Fun-O-Leer, all lady squad, was represented by Rita Rudzik, Toni Needham, Rose Chepek, and Karen Maren.

In the Consolation round, Triglav represented by Ivan Bambic, Minka Mejac, Marjan Strmsek, and Meagan Strmsek, outlasted the USPEH Chorus represented by Jan and Tom Gehm, and Tillie and John Skusek. It was a grand tournament and a fun time - the bottom line of any Slovenian function.

The USPEH Organization looks forward to the 2008 balina tournament with a few positive changes possible. USPEH, also, wishes to thank the Sunday hosts Triglav and Tanner Paull who catered the reception that followed the Monday finals. The biggest thank you, of course, goes to the balina competitors and spectators who made this event such a successful one! Hvala lepa,
Mike Maren

Obcni Zbor Report:    To top of page
We have 12 new members. They are:
Andrew Coffelt / Nick Limoni / Kristina Mejac / Brian Sagadin / Stephanie Sulik / Michelle Mejac / Danielle Dovnik / Ben Logan / Katie Markun / Daniel Smolic / Stephen Yaklich / Jessica Mejac

We also have 5 new Supporting Members. They are:
Franc Gamzer / Sondra Gamzer / Christina Gamzer / Alfred Jelinek / Virginia Strukel
Welcome to all of you!!

We did not vote on letting people become members without paying the $300.00 fee so that stays the same. If you did not apply on time to become a member, to bad so sad.

Our 2008 Calendar of Events are as follows:
Memorial Day                    Monday May 26th
June Picnic                         June 22nd
Membership picnic             Friday July 4th
Mission Picnic                    July 20th
August Picnic                     August 17th
Vinska Trgatev                   September 14th
Sveti Miklavz                      December 7th

The first meeting of 2008 will be January 20th at St. John The Evangelist at 2:00. We didn’t vote on the other meeting dates because it was brought up that the new president might not be able to make the meeting dates I had proposed so our new president will tell all of us at the January meeting when the rest of the meeting dates for the year will be. Got that?

We voted to keep the dues the same as they are now.  Excellent idea!!

We left Article XV alone. Guess it didn’t make sense to some people so there weren’t enough votes to pass it.

We voted not to have the 50/50 raffle to bring back Hank Thunander.  It was also stated that we didn’t want a 50/50 raffle at all. Not a problem. Frank Kolman donated the extra $300.00 needed to bring Hank back for our August picnic. He said that he can’t attend our picnics (he lives in Banks, Oregon) so he says this is his way of helping Triglav. Wow!! Thank you so much Frank! Hank Thunander will now be back for our August picnic 2008.

Ancka has stepped down as our Miklavz coordinator. Just too much on her plate to continue. The membership thanks you Ancka for the time and effort you have given this event in the past. Meagan Strmsek says she’ll put together a slide show for Miklavz but would like the membership to e-mail her some pictures. Her
e-mail address is strumm19@aol.com.
